Comedian Rowan Atkinson has shown his driving skills are no joke by becoming the quickest celebrity driver around the Top Gear circuit.
Atkinson, best known for his role in Mr Bean, completed the track more than half a second faster than the previous record holder John Bishop.
The show's presenter Jeremy Clarkson said he was impressed by car-lover Atkinson's time of 1:42.2 seconds.
"What is interesting is all your times were very consistent, as is the mark of a great racing driver," Clarkson told Atkinson on the show. "Turns out you're in the wrong career."
"It is remarkable because when Bishop did that time and it was so much faster than Tom Cruise we thought it would never be beaten," he said.
It was Atkinson's first appearance on the show, but the actor has always been interested in cars. He owns a McLaren F1 — a one-time fastest car in the world — and has written for numerous popular car magazines.
The humble Atkinson competes in his spare time and has raced an Aston Martin V8 Zagato, Renault 5 GT Turbo and historic Ford Falcon.
His latest role in Johnny English Reborn he gets to test his skills in a custom Rolls-Royce powered by a mammoth V16 engine.
