As October comes to a close it’s time to prepare for Movember. Yes, Movember the month when upstanding men of New Zealand loan their top lips to raise awareness and funds for the Cancer Society and Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
There's no better excuse to grow some facial fuzz than charity, and the number of men getting behind the cause is rising each year.
Even clean shaven celebrities and media personalities are getting in on the act.
TVNZ's Good Morning Brendon Pongia will be donning a sexy soup strainer, New Zealand's Next Top Model judge Colin Mathura-Jeffree is growing, Barnaby Weir from Fly My Pretties & The Black Seeds is cultivating a crumb catcher, actor Will Hall is involved, as is Otago Highlander Kenny Lynn plus many more.
The number of registered blokes continues to grow daily and so are the highly innovative methods (read stunts) to raise awareness and funds including:
A weigh-in of moustache yield by the New Zealand Young Farmers, where at the end of Movember each club nationwide weighs their collected whiskers after shaving and the club with the heaviest yield wins prizes and Mo-glory.
So, tell the girlfriend, get some sponsorship from work and grow the mo.
