Selling yourself on a dating site has always been a case of hit and miss. Attributes that charm one woman might completely deter another, but it appears just about all ladies like a traveller.
An Australian online matchmaking service conducted a survey of 882 adults to find out what they like to see on a potential date’s profile.
Ignoring the obvious aesthetics such as a person's physical appearance, the results show that people that list travelling as an interest are the most appealing.
With over half of the respondents liking people that "travel", the survey went into more detail in an attempt to decipher exactly what type of travel was attractive.
Daring adventurers appear to be the men that pull the babes, with 96 per cent of the bunch looking for that type of person. Off-the-beaten path travellers were not far behind and the least desirable traveller was a cultural connoisseur.
"The attitudes of singles show that a by-product of travel is that it adds to your sex appeal," said Intrepid Travel spokesperson Jo Stewart. "Travelers are generally considered curious about the world, open-minded and adventurous, all of which are attractive qualities."
So, it appears that if you're going to impress someone definitely mention your love of travelling. When it comes to your travel stories, however, you'd best avoid topics like churches and galleries stick to hiking, climbing, white water rafting or anything else with a hint of danger.
