When we got news that Charlie Brown has been scheduled to show at New Zealand Fashion Week 2012, we couldn't help get a little jittery in our seats.

The Australian fashion designer, whose career highlights include dressing former supermodels Helena Christiansen, Linda Evangelista and Jerry Hall, has signed on for the premier fashion event next month for the first time.

Expect classic evening and cocktail dresses from Brown, who will celebrate her 30th anniversary in the fashion industry this year.

New Zealand Fashion Week managing director Pieter Stewart said of Charlie's addition: "Like fashion itself, each year is different for NZFW, with a new mix of local designers signing up to showcase their collections to the world. Now international designers of the calibre of Charlie Brown are also looking to NZFW as an opportunity to grow their brands, which shows how strong the event has become."

The designer opened up a fashion boutique in Auckland's Newmarket last August and has fashion lines through department stores Kirkcaldie and Staines and Smith and Caughey.
